Spring Grdauation and Commencement Ceremony
Peer Advisor receive a lot of questions regarding graduation during office hours so I've decided to write a short post about Graduation and commencement ceremony details.
Putting yourself on the degree list: If you know at the beginning of any given semester that you will complete all graduation requirements by the end of that semester, please add yourself to the degree list via Tele-bears. In order to check whether you are on the degree list, you can log onto Bear facts. If you are planning to graduate at the end of current term and there's no indication of that on Bear Facts, please go to 120 Sproul to declare your candidacy by the end of the fifth week of classes for the fall or the spring semester.
CNR will carry out a degree check to make sure you have satisfied all college requirements. To ensure that you have satisfied all major requirements, please contact your major advisor. If you are transferring credit during the semester in which you plan to graduate, make sure to submit your transcripts to the Office of Instruction and Student Affairs on time. Consult with the Office of Instruction and Student Affairs for details.
If all of your university, campus, college, and major requirements are satisfied, you will officially have your degree. If you plan to complete graduation requirements during a summer or fall term, add your name to the degree list during that term only. If for any reason you do not complete all graduation requirements, you must file a new degree candidacy for the term in which you plan to finish your degree requirements. Students usually receive their diplomas approximately 4 months after graduation. Contact the Office of the Registrar for further instructions http://registrar.berkeley.edu
Commencement: CNR commencement is your opportunity to celebrate your accomplishment at CAL with family and friends. Walking at the commencement ceremony is not the same as graduating, CNR commencement is held only once a year, at the end of spring semester. You do not have to be on the spring degree list to be allowed to "walk" through CNR commencement; you can have already graduated the previous semester or fall, or be planning to graduate the next summer or fall.
The Spring 2011 Commencement Ceremony will be held in the Hearst Greek Theater on Sunday, May 15 2011, from 9:00 am to 11am.The deadline to add your name to the Spring Commencement ceremony is April 1, 2011. Please remember that your name will be listed however you type it in. The url is:
